Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

ssWeather

Q: How do I display the weather in an international location?
A: To do this, you must define the $zipcode variable as the 8 character location code for the international location you wish to display the weather for. To find your 8 character location code, follow the following steps:

1. Head over to http://weather.yahoo.com
2. Type in the name of the city and country you want the weather for (example: London, UK)
3. You should be automaticallyredirected to the weather page for the city you entered. If you are not immediately redirected, you may have to click individual links to specify which city you meant.
4. If you look at the address bar in your browser, you will see a URL like http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/UKXX0085.html. In this example, your location code would be UKXX0085

Q: Can I use AJAX with ssWeather to refresh the weather reading on a web page without the user having to reload the page?
A: Yes this is possible. I have found http://www.w3schools.com/ajax/default.asp to be a good source of information on combining AJAX and PHP.

ssStocks

Q: Can ssStocks display more than one stock quote on the same page?
A: Yes it can! Based on the requirements of a user who purchased ssStocks, I modified the ssStocks script to support this functionality.
